Steal An Egg Beginner Guide — Steal, Hatch, Earn, Repeat

Steal An Egg is a steal-and-hatch tycoon: you steal eggs from biome guardians and other players, hatch them into pets that earn money around the clock, and train on a treadmill to unlock faster, richer biomes. Here is the full loop, start to finish.

The core loop

  1. Steal an egg — walk up to an egg in any biome you have unlocked and grab it. Eggs on the map belong to the biome guardians; eggs in other players’ bases belong to them.
  2. Escape — carrying an egg slows you down (heavier eggs slow you more). Guardian pets and other players can hit you and knock the egg loose.
  3. Hatch — drop the egg in your base. Eggs keep hatching even while you are offline, so a full pen before bed is money in the morning.
  4. Earn — every hatched pet generates income passively. Bigger and rarer pets earn dramatically more.
  5. Train — spend time on the treadmill to gain Speed. Speed is the gate for every biome.
  6. Repeat — new biomes mean rarer eggs, which mean stronger pets and more income.

Your first hour

  • Stay in the Forest biome and steal Chicken eggs until you have a pen of income pets.
  • Reinvest early money into treadmill upgrades — Speed gates everything.
  • Don’t overreach: dying in a far biome with a heavy egg wastes the whole run.
  • Watch for the rare egg refresh: rare eggs spawn roughly every five minutes, and everyone in the server sees the same spawns.

Stealing from other players

Player bases are raidable. You can steal eggs from another player’s pen — but they can hit you, and the egg slows you on the way out. The strongest strategy is hitting a base when the owner is away on the treadmill or dead in a far biome.

Defensively: keep your rarest eggs hatched (pets can’t be stolen — only eggs can), and remember the exit path from your own base so you can chase thieves.

The rarity ladder

The game tracks five rarity families, with sizes and mutations layered on top:

  • Huge
  • Mutated
  • Secret
  • Eternal
  • Divine

Divine-class hatches are the rarest outcomes tracked by badges — “Hatched Divine!” has been awarded roughly 11,000 times against 1.6M+ “Hatched Secret!” awards (official badge counts, Aug 2026).

Known issues (Aug 2026)

  • Treadmill death bug: multiple players report dying shortly after stepping off the treadmill after a long session. Space out your training until it’s patched.
  • Exploiters: the developer has acknowledged cheating and is shipping a “powerful anti-cheat” (official Discord, Aug 16). Until then, expect the occasional speed-hacker.
  • Gifting is disabled: you cannot gift pets or eggs right now. Trading is planned as a replacement — see our trading page for the timeline.
