Mutations

hatch colours · applied mutations · stacking · size & weight

Mutations are the colour auras and applied effects that multiply a pet's income in Steal An Egg. They roll independently of size: a pet's aura and its weight are two separate dice, which is why the same pet can appear as a plain Huge or as a Rainbow Giant.

All multipliers below are community-measured — last cross-checked 2026-10-14. The game does not publish an official income table. See Sources & verification.

What mutations are

two layers, two sources

Hatch colours (auras)

Every hatched pet has a chance to roll a colour aura — Silver, Golden or Rainbow. It is the same dice roll for every pet in every biome: a single roll can land at most one aura, and most hatches land none.

Applied mutations

Applied mutations are not part of the normal hatch roll. Each comes from a specific source — an incubator, a consumable, an event shop or its own dedicated egg — and can be stacked on top of whatever aura the pet already rolled.

Hatch colour multipliers

rolled at hatch · one per pet
Mutation Income multiplier Roll odds
Silver x1.2 6 in 100
Golden x2.5 4 in 100
Rainbow x3.5 1 in 100

Applied mutation multipliers

separate sources · stack with the aura
Mutation Income multiplier How to get it Status
Bloom x1.25 Sakura Incubator (Cherry Blossom event) Event-gated — the Sakura Incubator is not currently active. Event-gated
Spirit Bloom x2.5 Sakura Incubator at max charge Some outlets list 3x — sources disagree; we track the 2.5x figure. Event-gated
Fractured x2.75 Mutation Consumable (10% chance) Obtainable
Scrambled x2.75 Dr. Scramble's Shop (10% chance) Obtainable
Parasite x3 Parasite Egg (feeding event) Obtainable

How multipliers stack

community sources disagree — both versions listed

Additive

1 + the sum of (each multiplier - 1). The community income calculator implements this additive rule.

Multiplicative

Multipliers applied one after another. The community formulas page shows combination examples this way (Golden + Giant = 2.5 x 3 = 7.5x total).

Unresolved. The two community sources disagree, and the in-game rule has not been officially confirmed — we list both until it is.

Sizes & weight

the second layer of the income formula

Size is independent of colour. Every hatch rolls a weight in kg separately from the aura, which is why the same pet can appear as a plain Huge or as a Golden Giant. Weight has a major effect on final income, and larger rolls keep adding value even past the point where each extra kg is worth less.

Below 125x the pet's base weight

Money/s = Base x (actual weight / base weight)^(37/60) x mutation multiplier(s)

Above 125x the pet's base weight (diminishing returns kick in)

Money/s = Base x mutation multiplier(s) x (actual weight / base weight)^(2/5) x 125^(13/60)

What the numbers mean

  • 100x base weight is worth roughly 17x base value
  • 200x base weight is worth roughly 23x base value
  • 1000x base weight is worth roughly 45x base value

The exponents (37/60, 2/5) and the 125x soft cap are the community's fitted values — the exact in-game formula is not published.

Steal An Egg does not publish an official income table — every multiplier below is community-measured and changes with balance patches. Treat these as the community consensus, not official numbers.

Known conflicts we track: Spirit Bloom (2.5x here, some outlets list 3x) and the stacking rule (additive vs multiplicative) — both flagged in the tables above rather than silently resolved.
